Going bowling?

November 29th, 2006

Melekalikimaka!

I need your help people! You see, I’m trying to convince our boss (Sandy Breland) to send us to the 50th state to cover the ASU football team. Dirk Koetter will be coaching his last game as the Sun Devils’ head coach against the University of Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl on December 24th.

Wouldn’t it be great television coverage to see Dirk Koetter doing the hula or to see Zach Miller and the Devils learning how to surf/wipeout. Plus, I could show you where I grew up and how the islanders celebrate X-mas in Hawaii.

So please email 3tvnews@azfamily.com and put “Send Buku to Hawaii” in the slug line.

Lost bet

November 29th, 2006

I lost a bet over the weekend to Tony from Santa’s Village. I bet Tony, a Notre Dame fan, that USC would beat Notre Dame. They didn’t.

Everywhere I go, Christmas music is playing. But I don’t mind at all. I don’t know about you, but for me, holiday tunes just instantly put me in a good mood!

The Exorcist

November 28th, 2006

So I met the guy who calls himself an exorcist. Bob Larson has done, by his estimation, more than 10,000 exorcisms around the world. Now he’s set up a church in the Phoenix area, it’s called The Spiritual Freedom Church.

Hottest November Ever?

November 24th, 2006
Comments Off

Well, we all know it’s been a warm month. In the past week, we’ve tied or set a couple of daily records in Phoenix and it seems like it just hasn’t cooled off like we expect this time of year. Couple that with a siginificant drying trend, and it’s been a bust of a weather month.

I win the stalking title

November 22nd, 2006

For years now, one of my favorite athletes has been Dale Jr. That would be Dale Earnhardt Jr. for you non Nascar fans. I’ve met him before and have taken pictures of him, but not one with him. That was my only goal at PIR a couple of weeks back.

Now that’s timing…

I was just sitting down trying to figure out what to “blog” about today, when I looked and saw a response to my first post from a cousin of mine. His name is Glen and I haven’t seen him in longer than I care to remember. So, I want to thank my cousin for giving me a great topic. For all of the “questionable” things that go with the internet, and there are many. You just can’t argue with how great it is for keeping in touch with folks that life (and geography) have separated you from.

Guys… How in the world do you do that?

November 19th, 2006

Alright guys, I want to know the secret. I’m speaking specifically to men. The world could be blowing up around you and you seem to have this uncanny ability to phase it all out, and I mean everything, any time you want. My curiousity and envy of this ability started years ago.

The fact of the matter is, I read out loud for a living. They call it “anchoring.” Weird use of the word, I know.

Even I Get Ripped-Off… Sometimes.

November 14th, 2006

It hardly ever happens… but every once in awhile even I get the short end of the stick. I mean, you would think the consumer guy would never get ripped-off. I’m too savy for that, right? But, from time to time, it does happen so take heart.

Reflections on Tuesday’s Election

November 11th, 2006

In the words of President Bush, the Republicans got a “thumping” on Tuesday. A thumping that I think most of America saw coming except for the President and those who surround him in the White House. I believe it is their arrogance, not ignorance, that blinds them.

I bought my first ever pair of bowling shoes, and I think they look pretty sweet. No, I’m not gonna start bowling … not that there’s anything wrong with bowling. I just like how they look.

It’s time to celebrate that the cooler temperatures have finally arrived — and you can finally sit outside without breaking a sweat. So, here are two of my NEW favorite places here in the Valley. And while you’re there, go ahead and call all your friends and family who are busy shoveling snow!
