It was one of those hazy L.A. morning. A thick marine layer was clinging to the ground like a giant mildewy blanket. Everything outside the speeding car was a dingy and blurry gray.
We were flying west bound on the I-10 Freeway headed towards Santa Monica. My camera crew and I had set up some early morning shot. But for the life of me I can’t remember what the hell it was.
Fast Times at Ridgemont….I mean Manzanita!

It was a hot night in many aspects at Manzanita Speedway Saturday night for the last Sprint Car race of June. I finally got after it and raced to a 3rd place in the heat race. It gave me a lot of confidence since I beat some of the top drivers. However, it only really counts in the Main race and I started in a good spot in 11th. I felt I could drive to a top ten finish for the first time…but my gauge showed my engine was running extremely hot so I pulled off the track a few laps before the checkered flag. Turns out it was a bad gauge, which I’m happy about because the engine is ok!
The sprint cars turn up the heat Tuesday night for a patriotic night of racing Tuesday July 3rd at Manzanita Speedway. A 50-lap race along with fireworks, should be a great time. And race fans, it really isn’t that bad, once the sun goes down!

My New Home

It’s been almost a month since I made the big move
from Texas to Arizona. For the first time in my life,
I have moved to a place where I am more than a five
hour drive from my nearest family member (I am a two
hour plane flight). I am extremely close to my parents
and to my two older brothers. So, I was a bit nervous
about moving here…I worried I would become homesick.
To my surprise, I am as happy as I have ever been in
my life! I absolutely LOVE Phoenix. And, I LOVE 3TV!
The people at the station have been so kind to me.
Co-workers learned I was moving to a town where I
didn’t know anyone, and have gone out of their way to
make me feel at home. They have invited me to lunch,
dinner, sporting events, concerts, day trips, nights
out on the town…etc. I find myself busy nearly
every day of the week! Now, I know why they call 3TV,
“Arizona’s Family.” It truly is a family. And, I’m
so happy to call it, and Arizona, home…
