In August, 3TV and Bashas’ teamed up to help Arizona families go back to school. The community came out in force donating more than $25,000 to local Arizona food banks and the timing couldn’t have been better.

Arizona food banks have distributed more than 42% more food in the first two quarters of 2009 versus 2008 according to a study recently released by Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief charity. The report also goes on to say that one in five Arizona children struggle with hunger.

Donations went directly to local area food banks and Communities in Schools of Arizona. Communities in Schools of Arizona works to ensure that young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.
